The Department of Medicine and the Division of Allergy and Immunology at Albany Medical College are seeking an Internal Medicine-trained allergist-immunologist for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates should be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Allergy/Immunology and have an interest in clinical care, teaching, research, and scholarly activity.
The position involves the full scope of adult and pediatric allergy/immunology practice as well as providing inpatient consultation at Albany Medical Center, the major teaching hospital for northeastern New York State. The successful candidate will participate in education of medical students, residents, and Allergy & Immunology fellows in the ambulatory, inpatient, and didactic settings. The candidate would join 2 other full time and 1 part time A/I faculty members, 2 fellows in training, and an experienced nursing team. This academic practice is a cohesive unit where empathy and mutual respect as well as excellence in patients care and teaching are highly valued. Candidates interested in research are encouraged to apply and would have the opportunity to join well-established research programs in the Division.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient Allergy & Immunology consultation services for adult and pediatric hospitalized patients.
- Evaluate and manage patients across the spectrum of allergic and immunologic disorders, including asthma, allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, food allergy, drug allergy, atopic and contact dermatitis, Stinging insect hypersensitivity, anaphylaxis, angioedema, urticaria, eosinophilic and mast cell disorders, and primary immunodeficiency diseases
- Perform and supervise Allergy & Immunology procedures, including allergy testing, oral food and medication challenges, allergen immunotherapy, and drug desensitization.
- Collaborate with Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Pulmonary/Critical Care, Infectious Disease, Rheumatology, Hematology/Oncology, Otolaryngology, Emergency Medicine, Pharmacy, and other medical and surgical specialties as appropriate.
Academic Responsibilities
- Teach and supervise medical students, residents, and Allergy & Immunology fellows.
- Participate in the education and mentorship of Allergy & Immunology fellows.
- Develop and present educational lectures, conferences, and grand rounds.
- Participate in scholarly activities, including clinical research, quality improvement, publications, and presentations.
- Contribute to curriculum development and other educational activities within the division.
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Allergy & Immunology fellowship
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Allergy & Immunology
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State
- DEA certification
