Join Western Massachusetts’ largest integrated healthcare system, Baystate Health, as the new System Director, Emergency Services!
The Position
- The System Director, Emergency Services, will provide enterprise-wide leadership for Emergency Department nursing practice across Baystate Health, supporting operations at Baystate Medical Center, Baystate Noble Hospital, Baystate Franklin Medical Center, and Baystate Wing Hospital to ensure consistency, reliability, and clinical excellence across all emergency departments.
- The System Director will serve as the subject matter expert for ED nursing, leading the development and standardization of clinical workflows, care models, and practice standards aligned with system-wide strategic priorities.
- Key responsibilities include driving strategic and operational initiatives that improve throughput, reducing LWBS, enhancing quality, safety, patient experience, and increasing nurse engagement, with clear linkage to measurable outcomes.
- The System Director will lead the development and optimization of system dashboards, operational metrics, and enterprise tools (e.g., surge planning, capacity management), leveraging data and analytics to inform decision-making and long-term planning.
- This leader will partner closely with regional CNOs, ED physician leadership, and site nurse managers to align local performance improvement efforts with system goals, providing coaching, guidance, and operational support.
- Foster a professional practice environment grounded in evidence-based care, shared governance, and nursing research, including collaboration on education, competency development, and system-wide clinical programs.
- Must represent ED nursing at the executive level, contributing to strategic planning, system committees, and national thought leadership, including research, publications, and conference presentations.
- Seeking an engaged and forward-thinking leader to create collaborative partnerships across the organization and drive key initiatives around staffing, accountability, employee development, productivity metrics, employee engagement, and operational efficiencies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree is required.
- Previous Director level experience is required.
